The Metro Sustain uses plant-based plastic derived from renewable sugarcane. Sugarcane is a low impact crop that requires minimal irrigation and fertiliser. After extracting the sugar, the left-over pulp is transformed into the plant based polyethylene plastic. For every kilogram of sugarcane-based polyethylene produced, 2.12 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent are eliminated, therefore contributing to the reduction of global warming.
Additionally, the Metro Sustain bottle can be recycled through the same systems established for traditional plastics, making it an even more advantageous choice for environmentally conscious consumer. Designed for repeated use, the Metro Sustain minimises reliance on single-use plastics
